I’tikaf - The Spiritual Retreat

The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) has said:

“The persons who secludes himself (in the Masjid in I’tikaf) in true faith and hope (for the reward of Allah), all of his previous sins shall be forgiven.”

(Kanzul Ummal, Hadith 24007)

One of the greatest traditions of Islam, the spark of which has recently been reignited in the hearts of the youth, is that of I’tikaf. This is a tradition which has been in Islam from the first days of the revelation and is also something known and recognized in other Divine religions sent by Allah (Glory and Greatness be to Him) and practiced by them – more or less:

"And when We made the House a pilgrimage for mankind and a (place of) security, and said, ‘Appoint for yourselves a place of prayer on the standing-place of Ibrahim [Maqam-e-Ibrahim].’ And We enjoined Ibrahim and Ismail saying: ‘Purify My House for those who visit (it) and those who abide (in it) for devotion, those who bow down (and) those who prostrate themselves.’

(Suratul Baqarah (2), Verse 125)

Abdul Aziz al-Hakim, leader of one of the most powerful Shia Muslim parties in Iraq, has died, his aides say.

Hakim had been suffering from cancer and had been receiving treatment in hospital in the Iranian capital Tehran.

He did not hold any government post in Iraq's elected Shia-led government since the overthrow of Saddam Hussein, but was an important power broker. He took control of the Sciri party (later SIIC) after his brother was assassinated in Najaf in 2003.

The cleric, who was in his 50s, was diagnosed with lung cancer during a trip to the US for tests in May 2007. He chose to receive chemotherapy treatment in Tehran. The party has several senior cabinet members, and its militia - the Badr Brigade - wields considerable influence in Iraq's security establishment.

Imamate- The perfection of Deen

In Surah Rum verse 43, Allah (swt) tells "Then set your face upright towards the established religion before that day comes from God, when there will be no escape". We are told to turn to Deen before the Day of Judgement when people will be separated. The verse tells mankind to search for that perfect deen.

If we look at the world around us, we commonly see an object whose recognition comes through it's individual characteristics. If you remove these characteristics, the object will loose its identity, it will become unrecognisable.

There exist some things in nature whose recognition requires no identification, for example the sun coming out, its very presence serves as its identification, it requires no further verification. In some cases, something has no identity, it does not present itself, rather it depends upon others to present it, for example adalat (justice), ibadat (worship) are concepts which on their own have no identification, they have no physical presence, you can not just point at something and conclude this is adalat.

So who killed Imam Hussain (as)? – Lets investigate history

AddThis Social Bookmark Button
Ansar website had perpetuated the common lie that the Shia killed Imam Hussain (as). In this refutation we shall analyse the facts of history to expose the fallacy of such a claim. Their argument can be summarised as follows
  1. The Shi’a invited Imam Hussain (as) by writing letters and requesting that he come to Kufa so that they can recognise him as their Imam.
  2. Imam Hussain (as) sent Muslim bin Aqeel (as) as his representative to assess the situation
  3. The Shi’a gave bayya to Imam Hussain via Hadhrath Muslim bin Aqeel (as).
  4. The same Shi’a subsequently abandoned him following the entry of Abdullah ibn Ziyad.
  5. The Shi’a failed to support Imam Hussain (as) as a result he was killed.

The approach we have taken is to focus on the historical sources in detail and then identify and expose the beliefs of the Kufan people.
